Nedgroup Investments Financials Fund wins at the Profile Unit Trust Awards 2025

Shane Tremeer

The Nedgroup Investments Financials Fund has won the Best of the Rest category at the Profile Unit Trust Awards 2025, in the Domestic South African Equity Specialist category for three years’ straight performance to the end of 2024.

Managed by our Head of Global Financials, Kokkie Kooyman, since 2004, the fund has consistently delivered outstanding long-term results for investors. It provides exposure to both South African and global financial sector shares, with capital growth as the primary goal over the medium to long term. The fund’s offshore exposure is achieved through the Denker Global Financial Fund.

At Denker Capital, our intrinsic value philosophy is built on fundamental research. We focus on three key factors when researching companies: strong business economics, quality management, and attractive valuations. By following this approach, we aim to invest in companies with the potential to grow shareholder value over time.

With over two decades of experience investing in the financial sector, Kokkie and our global financials team have built an extensive database of local and global financial companies. Through this database, we are able to continuously gain knowledge and insights and take advantage of new opportunities quickly as they arise. Few teams globally have the depth of expertise that we do across banks, insurers, exchanges, and debt collectors – spanning both developed and emerging markets. Our deep historical perspective equips us to identify opportunities and navigate challenges effectively, regardless of market conditions.

We are proud that we’ve been able to deliver strong long-term returns, as shown in Figure 1, and we remain optimistic about the opportunities ahead in the financial sector.

To the investors in the fund: thank you for your continued trust and support.
