We are passionate about building wealth for investors over time by discovering attractive investment opportunities around the world. Our global equities team plays a critical role in helping us achieve this. Lizelle recently joined this team as an equity analyst – we asked her a few questions about her role and what she enjoys about it.

What made you become an equity analyst – what was the attraction to financial markets?
The wide spectrum of things that are relevant to the role of an equity analyst provides job satisfaction for my curious mind. I enjoy constantly evaluating and analysing different investments in a fast-paced environment. Importantly, I like to add value by creating wealth for hard-working people so that they can retire comfortably.

Why did you join Denker?

The opportunity to join a dynamic company with great prospects excited me. I was immediately impressed with the culture, dedication to excellence, driven nature of the people, and solid values that characterise Denker, and knew I would fit in well. The experience and reputation of the team stood out for me and I look forward to work with, learn from and be challenged by smart, critical and independent minds.

What is a day in the life of an equity analyst like?
Every day presents new and often unexpected challenges and opportunities, so it is almost impossible to describe a typical day – which is why it excites me. You are constantly absorbing new information about a vast number of different things and critically thinking about the drivers and long-term trends in markets and how these affect the valuation and performance of companies.

Something personal – what do you enjoy doing outside of work?

I am in the process of completing my Master of Management in Finance and Investments through Wits Business School. When I’m not studying I enjoy being outside, hiking, cycling and golfing.

I am also a foodie and love eating out, baking and hosting dinner parties. I try to read a book a month and enjoy both fiction and non-fiction.

Education is a big passion of mine and I think it is the best way I can give back to my community, which I often do through tutoring or taking part in educational programmes.
